President/Chief Executive Officer
With more than 25 years of experience in chemical operations, engineering, and cGMP manufacturing, Ed has grown PCI from a basic chemical manufacturer into the leading CMO that it is today.
As an industry thought-leader, Ed also serves as a co-chair of the New England CRO/CMO Council and sits on the Industrial Advisory Board for the Department of Chemical Engineering at UMass, Amherst. Ed is also a long standing member of the American Chemical Society and advises the Bulk Pharmaceutical Task Force of the Society of Chemical Manufacturer’s and Affiliates (SOCMA).
Prior to founding the company, Ed served in numerous positions at several leading custom chemical manufacturers including ChemDesign and PolyOrganix (previously Borregaard Synthesis). He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and completed graduate studies in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University.
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer
Paul joined PCI in March 2009. He has more than 25 years of Senior Financial and Operations Management experience in the Life Science, Manufacturing, and Service sectors.
Prior to joining PCI, Paul has also held Financial leadership roles at a variety of companies including SemEquip, a developer of ion cluster implantation systems; Palladium Group, a management consulting and Balanced Scorecard firm; FFP Global, a business solution outsourced provider; PQC, a physician practice management provider; and Corning, a global life sciences company.
Paul holds a MBA in Finance from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northeastern University.
Human Resources Manager
Lauren joined PCI Synthesis in September 2011 as Human Resources Manager where manages employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, benefits management and payroll.
She has over 15 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry dealing in Human Resources. Prior to joining PCI Synthesis, Lauren was the Human Resources Manager at First Boston Pharma (previously Nutramax) an OTC Drug Substance Manufacturer in Gloucester, MA.
Lauren holds a degree in Management from Johnson and Wales University, Providence.
Vice President Research and Development
Dr. Shukla has approximately 15 years of experience in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Route Scouting and Optimization, API development and CMC activities.
Prior to joining PCI, Raj worked in the Process Research group at Borregaard Synthesis in 2001 as a Chemical Development Scientist.
Raj attended Syracuse University and received his Doctorate in Organic Chemistry at the University of North Texas.
Director of Analytical Services
Dr. Yazdi received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 1989 in the areas of chromatography and spectroscopy. He started his career at Ciba-Geigy a large specialty /pharmaceutical company.
Dr. Yazdi has over twenty five years of extensive experience in pharmaceutical industries including API Manufacturers, Bulk Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Finished dose manufacturers, Specialty Pharmaceutical companies, and Contract Manufacturing Organizations / Contract Research Organizations.
Mehdi attended the University of Scranton and Razi University before recieveing his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Mississippi State University in 1989 in the area of chromatography and spectroscopy
Director of Manufacturing
Dr. Saikali joined PCI Synthesis in March 2011 as the Director of Manufacturing. Elie has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry dealing with custom manufacturing, process development and scale up under cGMP regulation.
Prior to joining PCI Synthesis, Elie spent over fifteen years in various roles at Lonza, including Development Chemist, Production Chemist and Project Manager.
He holds a Master Degree in Chemistry from North Carolina A&T State University and Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Wake Forest University.
Business Development Manager
With more than 20 years of experience in the Drug Substance, Finished Dosage and Commercial Pharmaceutical space, Derek serves as Business Development Manager leading the Sales and Marketing efforts for PCI’s Contract Development and Manufacturing division.
Prior to joining PCI , Derek served in several positions of increased responsibility at several leading Pharmaceutical Companies and CDMO’s including Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Schering Plough (now Merck) and Aptuit.
Derek obtained his degree in Marketing from Providence College.
Director of Regulatory Affairs / Quality Assurance
Dr. Sweet started his career with PCI Synthesis in 1999. He develops, manages and directs all of the Company’s efforts for implementing a cGMP quality system. Andy also oversees the Company’s regulatory strategy and submissions to FDA and international regulatory bodies.
He previously held multiple positions within the Manufacturing, R&D and Quality groups of ChemDesign Corporation.
Andy earned degrees from Gordon College (BA) and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (MA, PhD ABD).
Business Development Manager
With more than 20 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, Scott serves as Business Development Manager, leading the Sales and Marketing efforts on the West Coast for PCI’s Contract Development and Manufacturing division.
Prior to joining PCI, Scott started his career as a chemist at Parke-Davis (now Pfizer) before moving into business development with AMRI and BPS Bioscience.
Scott earned a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from the University of Michigan, a Masters in Chemistry from Eastern Michigan University and an MBA from Michigan State University.
